We are pleased to offer a rare collectable piece of American art pottery from Ocean Springs Mississippi. This Shearwater pottery low bowl is in excellent condition with no chips or cracks. This work is by the master potters Peter and Walter Anderson. By the mark, we believe the date is late 1950's to early 60's. The bowl has three fluted edges. It is 6 inches across and stands about 1 1/2 inches high. The natural clay background is slip decorated with black and off white swimming ducks. The greek key motif is highlighted with a warm brown. The bowl has a high gloss glaze. The back is marked Shearwater. As you know these works of art are scarce and many were lost to Katrina.
