WELLER Unusual vase with beetles under a sheer glossy green and purple glaze. Unmarked. 4 1/2" x 4 1/4" (NOTES: "A major event in our early art pottery education was a trip to the "Arts & Crafts Movement in America" exhibition at the Art Museum of Princeton University in the Fall of 1972. There we saw a matte-glazed vase like this one impressed WELLER, so that later, when we saw what we considered to be a more interesting shiny example, we grabbed it. Dave Rago informed us that the form is familiar in the matte glazed Fru Russett line, but is rarely given a glossy finish.")
