A Historical Note:

Simply described, a chalice is a cup. More specifically, when used for religious purposes as is practiced by Roman Catholicism, Eastern Orthodoxy, Anglicanism, Lutheranism and many other Christian denominations, "a holy chalice" is a wine cup used to celebrate the Eucharist, also called The Lord's Supper or Holy Communion. Although made from numerous different materials, chalices are most often made of precious metal and are sometimes richly jewelled. Chalices have been used for sacred puposes since ancient times with the most infamous chalice remaining to be "The Holy Grail" used by the Lord Jesus Christ at The Last Supper that he shared with his disciples in the upper room.

We are fortunate to come across many unique chalices and religious artifacts and offer them to you weekly on eBay. These vintage items come from a variety of locales including our international contacts, convents, auctions, estate sales, and local sources. These "treasures" are offered to you just as we find them and, although every effort is made to describe each item accurately, please know that we offer them just as we find them and are sold "as is." We are happy to answer any questions in advance of your bid or purchase that you may have.

Also, please remember that the minor loss of color, inscriptions, scratches, patina, tarnish, loss of paint, marks, etc ... that are innt in vintage or antiquarian items only contributes to the character, charm, personal history, and sometimes value of these beautiful religious collectibles. In fact, we believe these "flaws" actually enhance the beauty of these items. Afterall, don't we all have a few "beauty marks"?
