is what you dont want to find when you open the kiln. (If your a potter that is) is a "paint rock" colored alkaline glazed devil jug the has fused to the grape decorated bean pot it was sitting on. Stacking was a common practice for the old potters. If you collect old pottery, you may have noticed the rim of a jar that had the glaze wiped away or seen the circular impression on the bottom of a jug or pitcher. The wood firing process is pretty laborious and time consuming and stacking of the ware made the firing more efficient. Shelby periodically stacks his ware the same way and 99% of the time it turns out fine. You can just tap the lower jar with a piece of wood and the two pieces will seperate with no problem. In this case the runny eyes of the devil ran down and fused that two pieces permanantly together. Both pieces are in mint condition, they are just stuck together. Together they stand about 19" tall. The jug is stamped "SW" on the handle and the bean pots is also stamped on the handle as well as signed and dated on the bottom. Please email me with any questions.
