Up for auction with NO RESERVE is a very nice Shelley china handpainted handled serving tray for cake, desserts, or hors d' oeuvres. It is in the Bubbles pattern. The colors are vivid and bright, in shades of pink, blue, yellow, black, and white. It is edged in black. A very eye catching, almost psychedelic design. It is marked on the bottom MADE IN ENGLAND SHELLEY CHINA and with the handpainted #11183 and another mark underneath. This particular mark was used between 1912-1925. The tray measures 9 1/4" across from handle to handle and sits approx. 1" high at the high points of the edge. It is in very good condition - no chips, or repair. T is some scratching from use and a few spots of paint loss, mostly around the edge and handles. Also, at the creases going to the corners t are lines of paint loss. I have taken closeups of these areas. At both handles, t are what looks like black lines going across, These do not go through to the other side or even around the edge, I do not believe it is a crack, you cannot feel anything. It may just be a mark from manufacture, like a flaw in the pattern?. I am just being thorough in mentioning them to you. I have tried to take a photo of this. These things do not take away from the beauty of this piece. This would make a great addition to your Shelley collection, to use or display. It is a very nice piece. Bid with confidence.
