Vintage 1940+ SHELLEY Fine Bone China QUEEN ANNE cup and saucer in PINK SUMMER GLORY chintz -- in MINT condition ! What a spectacular find for any Shelley collector! Oh wow, this is such a rare duo ... aside from the photo in my Shelley chintz reference book, this is the only such example I've ever seen. The saucer is 5-1/4" across, and the cup is 2-1/2" tall and 3-1/4" across the top. The Queen Anne shape features 8 panels, alternating large and small. The saucer has gently scalloped corners and the cup has a distinctive pointed handle. This set is trimmed in spring green and the cup has a pale green interior and a pale green handle. Each piece has the "Fine Bone China Shelley England" backstamp (1940-1966) and the colorful "Summer Glory" floral logo stamp. The cup also has pattern number 13456 written in red. Pattern 13456 in Pink Summer Glory chintz, introduced in 1940. The Queen Anne shape isn't even listed in the Shelley pattern books as an available shape for this chintz pattern! I can find NO flaws or signs of wear in this duo -- both pieces are simply PERFECT in every way, and of course they ring beautifully. GORGEOUS! I guarantee you'll be thrilled with this duo. FYI: It's always difficult to know how to price such a rare item. Moran's reference book is nearly a decade old, so its broad suggestion of "$500 and up" is of little help nowadays. Keeping in mind that I've seen several examples of Shelley's rare Dainty Black duos sell anyw from $700 to well over $2,000 on eBay over the years, and a Queen Anne chintz duo such as this is actually much more rare (yet more people collect the Dainty shape), I settled on $1,200 for a Best Offer price. I welcome your offers, and whoever comes closest wins! :-) Insurance is of course recommended, although I left it as "optional" since I've not had a broken or damaged shipment in the nearly 2 years since I began shipping vintage china -- I do pack very well! For international buyers, insurance is available (at an additional cost) only if you select either Priority or Express (i.e. First Class is uninsured airmail). Please let me know if you'd like for me to figure the international insurance cost and include the info on your invoice. I'm happy to combine your multiple purchases to save on shipping costs.
