This is a classic piece of artwork from SHELDON "Shelly" MAYER, original editor for the All-American line of comic books that merged with DC Comics in the early 40s. Mayer went onto a minor claim to fame with Sugar and Spike (influenced Rugrats, I bet). But his first classic was SCRIBBLY, THE KID WITH THE MOST COMIC BOOKS IN THE WORLD. This is the original art to one of his one-pagers, circa 1939. You don't find artwork by comic greats this nice from this era anymore. It's a treasured piece in my collection and MUST MEET THE RESERVE to move to my own collection. T is a slight tear below the logo (which, I think, was once glued on) and is a stat.
