ESSAYS ON MEN AND MANNERS BY WILLIAM SHENSTONE, ESQ. Printed by J Cundee, Ivy-Lane. For T Hurst Paternoster-Row and others at Portland chapel, Emery, Bristol and Plymouth 1802 Leather with Gilt and marbled pages and covers. Not just rare but unique- The book begins with "Memoirs" instead of "Preface" or introduction; a very personal kind of book. Also the first page of "Memoirs" is labeled "b" at bottom and 2nd page is labeled "ii" at top; but THE 3RD PAGE IS LABELED "b2" AT BOTTOM AND "iii" AT TOP. After "Contents" The first page has a Capital "B" at the bottom and randomly through the book page bottoms have a Capital letter "B" through "R"-- I do not know what this means and have never seen it before!! It likely makes it more valuable. This is one of the RAREST BOOKS available. This is 1 of 1 available in Leather hardcover There is one other on the web. It is a soft cover in worse condition for more money. Thank you again for looking and keep checking my other listings for more rare books to come I am not a dealer or expert. Just a guy who loves books and wants to share my old ones as new are acquired.
