SHEPPARD WALKING HIS FLOCK OIL PAINTING-SIGNED RIECKE GEORGE RIECKE 1848-1930 George Riecke was a painter of rural landscape and farm animals. He was active in New Orleans between 1887 and 1902 and was a member of the Artists Association of New Orleans. In 1900, he exhibited his work at the National Academy of Design in New York. Riecke is one of The Crescent City's venerated and historic artists of great renown. We at Gunningco note George Riecke as an "up and coming Star" collectible artist. Recently his works are gaining value at a surprising pace as collectors recognise his artistic genius with farm animals, particularly sheep. Most of his paintings do not have people dipicted with the animals. The art that is being offered here is one of the rare ones where a shepard is actually depicted in the work . Note the skillful use of the reddish gold colours at dusk, just enough light to give a pristine view of the shepard bringing the flock in for the night. The painting has a decidedly striking appearance, a virutal artistic treasure. WE ARE SORRY THAT WE HAVE ONLY ONE TO OFFER AT THIS TIME.
