This is a stunning transitional Sheraton and Classical Empire flame mahogany chest dating to around 1820. PLEASE NOTE: the pictures were taken in bright sunlight and came out too red/orange in color...the chest has a warm mahogany tone and is a bit darker than shown. This piece is so much nicer in person and my pictures do not do it justice. The chest features a serpentine backsplash with three bronzed medallions over two small step back upper drawers. The main part of the chest has a total of four drawers (most recessed) which have period dovetailing and original wooden pulls. The drawers are flanked by three-quarter carved rope turned column sides that culminate in ornate ring turned feet. The chest measures 42 3/4" by 21" and stands 38 1/4" tall to the surface top and 48" tall to the top of the backsplash and is in excellent condition for its age. Delivery in New England will range between $35-125.00 or a pick-up is welcome. Shipping outside New England to the shippers facility is the cheapest you will find on ebay so please email me for a quote. Buyer to pay shipping. I accept checks, money orders and credit cards through PayPal.
