Sheraton Salesman's Sample Apprentice Chest of Drawers

Offered is this marvelous Salesman's Sample or Apprentice Chest of Drawers that dates to the Sheraton period. It's rare to find one that features the wonderful fluted and ring-turned columns on the side. Origin is likely Northeast or Virginia area. The wood original and features 5 hand dovetailed drawers, flanked by fluted and ring-turned columns. T are two side-by-side small drawers over 3 larger graduated drawers. One of the drawers is divided. 3 drawers have their original locks inside and out; two are missing the inner portion of the lock, The top right drawer has damage to the veneer which does not affect the integrity of the drawer itself. As expected t are occasional thin cracks to the veneer as seen in the photos. The middle left knop has a part missing w it attached to the drawer. The cabinet rests on 4 turned Sheraton legs that lead to ball feet. Measurements are 15 1/4" tall, 16 1/4" wide, and 7 5/8" deep. Dates to 1820.
