The BEST opera cape EVER in the most beautiful apricot silk velvet that shimmers in a beautiful, rich gold when the light hits it....honestly the photos do it NO justice at all!! This exquisite masterpiece is edged in a bewitching collar of jet black Colobus monkey fur (which is NOT EXTINCT) with seam just above the shoulders and graduated pleats through the center of the cape & glittering jet passementerie at the bottom of the pleats....the black against the golden apricot silk velvet is so dramatic....just wait til you see it in person...SWOON!!This fabulous cape is lined in ivory silk with the 'Marshall Field & Company' label. It has a simple modern hook at the neck for closure-a beautiful Victorian jet clasp or pin would be spectacular , the beaded jet trim doesn't close-a hook would make it hang better but isn't necessary. It measures approx. 18 in. across the shoulders, is 48 in. from center base of neckline to hem with a generous 59 in. sweep at the hem.Were you to add a hook at the beaded trim you'd have about 52 in. through the hips.In excellent vintage condition-I note some foxing/small holes to the neckline of the *lining*,a small repair to the back hem, and at the very edge of the hem are a few holes-completely unseen unless you are really looking. One discrete repair at the shoulder-all this is shown and VERY MINOR. This is strong and completely wearable....in fact, you will mesmerize all that see you...that, I guarantee!! One of the most beautiful capes that I've had...don't miss it!!
