Here is a killer artifact from the schooner shipwreck the Douro. It is an XL slave token that is known as a manilla. Local Chiefs from the West African coast used to trade their captives as slaves for these bracelet looking forms of currency. One Manilla was trade for one slave. Typically made of bronze or copper. This manilla was recovered in the 1970's when the Cornish Shipwreck of the Douro was discovered by divers. The ship sank in 1843 when it was sailing from Liverpool England. It hit the Great Crebawethan rocks off of the shore of Scicilly on January 27th in 1843. It was suppose to be carrying goods, but ended up having thousands of these manillas in board. It was suspected then that the ship may have been an illegal slave trader. Sunken Treasure!
