I have aquired a large selection of retail items from Arenz shoes of Sparta Wisconsin. Their store will be expanding to add Hallmark items, so they are letting go of some of the dispay racks and vintage shoe store items to make room. Please visit my ebay store to see more of these interesting vintage retail sales items. For information or more photos on these pieces please email me by following the "ask the seller a question" link on this page. Vintage Fluoroscope - by Adrian - Milwaukee Wisconsin Can be viewed at Arenz Shoes in Sparta WI. This piece of equiptment has been displayed in Arentz shoes for years. It was common in many shoe stores from 1930s thru the 1950s and used to help correctly size shoes. It is in good condition cosmetically - a little veneer missing on bottom of one side - see photos. The heavy inside pieces have been removed to make it more mobile - and are available should the buyer want them. Basic Description The shoe fitting fluoroscope was a common fixture in shoe stores during the 1930s, 1940s and 1950s. A typical unit, like the Adrian machine shown , consisted of a vertical wooden cabinet with an opening near the bottom into which the feet were placed. When you looked through one of the three viewing ports on the top of the cabinet (e.g., one for the child being fitted, one for the child's parent, and the third for the shoe salesman or saleswoman), you would see a fluorescent image of the bones of the feet and the outline of the shoes. For more information about fluoroscopes follow the link below. /ptp/collection/shoefittingfluor/shoe.htm Shipping will be LOCAL PICK UP ONLY or local pick-up at Ebuys in Gods Country llc - Downtown Sparta WI Quoted shipping charges are for the continental United States - all other sales will be charged actual shipping plus a $2.00 handling fee.
