When Used Properly, Marx Elevated Railway System Made A Real Visual Impact on the typical one dimension 3 by 6 or 4 by 8 foot layout. Height and expanded layout configurations were possible. And Track could be placed in areas that might not be supported by the normal layout board. Here are (8) Number 615 Elevated Trestles Because the trestles were not made for very long nor were they sold extensively by retailers, most consumers were unaware of their value to enhance a Marx Railway. They are metal, sturdy, and will support any Marx train. The Upper Level will probably support any Lionel, American Flyer, Ives, or other maker's trains while the lower level has a height restriction that must be observed. Marx trains will fit if they are the prewar variety or single level type. Louis Marx grew up in New York City. The elevated railways that covered early New York and continued into the 20th century were a constant reminder of the part that trains played in the transportation of the city. Naturally, Louis Marx produced his own version in the the late 1930's not to exceed the final production year of 1942! The Black Elevated Railway Trestle stood about 4 inches high and set on a base of 6 1/2 inches wide.
