SHORTHAND or The New 20th Century TAILOR SYSTEM by the Morris Pattern Co. sewing pattern for a ladies dress. I remember using similar looking patterns in the early 70's when I worked at a ladies garment factory, The Martha Maid Mfg. Co. We used them as master patterns and mixed and matched to make many different styles and sizes of women's housecoats. These pattern pieces are much older. Late 19th or early 20th century according to the information printed on the front bodice pattern T are four Bodice pattern pieces included in this auction. FRONT, BACK, SLEEVE and DART RULE, printed on thick, heavy, brown, coated paper. The Front pattern piece has a long diagonal tear from the sleeve hole about ¾ of the way across. A 1"x 2" piece has separated from the front bottom corner but the piece is included. (Picture 1) I had to set two small weights on the Front piece for the picture because it wouldn't lay flat. It looks like these pattern pieces were rolled up for storage and the Front pattern was stored on the outside of the roll since it's the biggest piece, thus shows the damage. The other three pattern pieces are very good. As printed on the Front pattern piece : Shorthand or The New 20th Century Tailor System Patent Pending Morris Pattern Co.
