Up for auction the perfect Shreve, Crump & Low "Gurgling Cod" pitcher in immaculate condition. This piece was gifted to some dear friends as a wedding gift some 8 years ago and has been displayed but never really used. The only evidence of any use is on the very bottom non-glazed foot surface, w t appears to be a few spots of furniture varnish from w it must have stood still for quite some time. This BRILLIANT, DEEP SHINY BLACK gurgling cod pitcher has its original packing card with the little story that Shreve, Crump & Low tell of the codfish as it supported Yankee cooking as well as the Massachusetts fishing industry. It is in absolutely mint condition, never used except to gurgle water a few times, and will be sadly missed. I didn't fuss over the photos too much, but the first is self explanatory- a nearly perfect black gurgling cod pitcher. The second, the base that depicts all the regular SC&L Boston markings (although difficult to photograph), and the third some friends vacationing in West Palm who have no interest in this auction and are not for sale, but their photo downloaded and I didn't have the heart to remove them.
