TOO MANY MICROPHONES, NOT ENOUGH LOCKER. Some of 'em gotta go! Here's a rare objet d'art from the Shure Brothers archives. This is a Shure SM-82 condeser microphone that puts out a line-level signal. Shure developed this for use in the field by sportscasters and newsmen, but it's sound quality is certainly good enough for studio use. It features an amazingly smooth built-in limiter that makes it ideal for hard-sell spoken word voice recordings or in the sports booth when the talent gets excited.. This monster JUST DON'T CARE what kind of cable you use with it. Frayed shield? No problem... Ground loop? Whazzat?... Matter-of-fact, the instruction sheet says you can actually connect it with up to 75 ft of common LAMP CORD and it'll perform without so much as a hum or a buzz! I watched a Shure rep do JUST that during a demonstration once. THAT was a real show-stopper. It's nearly impervious to induction from computer and TV monitors and other sources of buzz, hum, static, and all things inductive. I actually have several of these mics. I used them exclusively in my voice-over studio for many years and whenever I found one for sale, I'd snatch it up pronto. I still take one on the road when I travel with my laptop.
