T is one Harry S. Truman signatures and one Thomas H. Benton signature and two first day of issue stamps for Missouri's 150th Birthday and an actual photograph of Benton presenting Truman with a sketch of an Indian appearing in the mural Mr. Benton did for the Truman Library in this auction. Also included is the program sheet for the birthday luncheon. T is a folder with the president's image impressed and the title, Celebrating the 87th Birthday of Harry S. Truman May 8th 1971. Inside the folder is a commemorative stamp showing a part of the mural in the Truman Memorial library as will as a full-color reproduction of the mural itself. In planning the program, the attached photograph was used on the envelope, included in the auction. This photograph shows the artist, Thomas Hart Benton, presenting President Truman a sketch of the Indian appearing in the left center of the mural. Mr. Benton presented this sketch on the President's 75th birthday. So on his 87th this mural for the Truman Library was completed, 12 years in the making. The stamp is a picture of this mural. Both Harry S. Truman and Thomas H. Benton have signed inside this folder by the first issue stamp. On the upper right hand corner of this envelope is another first issue stamp. All this is in a larger envelope with the picture reproduced on the left. T is some yellowing to the envelope and inside the folder on the opposite side to the stamp and mural picture t are a couple of what looks like ink spots made when signed. This is shown in the pictures. T is also some yellow foxing on the back top of the folder. All in very good condition. No bends or folds. Sold as is as described. These were purchased at an estate sale sponsored by a church in Key West. As you know that is w Truman spent many vacations at the Little White House.
