Here we have a beautiful example of a BARRO NEGRO Vessel with the Artist's Mark. This style of vessel was used for carrying liquids for centuries. Made in Oaxaca, Mexico by the Zapotecs and Mixtec People from the Central plains of Mexico.Hand Thrown Black Clay with a low relief carving with carved detailed borders. The raised areas were then hand painted with a cream color. More details are then carved into the white.Vessel measures approximately : 12" tall and 6 1/2" diameter at the widest point. The bottom rim has a diameter of 3 1/2"Condition: This vessel is in Perfect condition, having no issues. The colors in the clay vary in some of the areas, but are not flaws, just the nature of the clay.
