Up for auction is this strong example of japanese studio art pottery from the 1950's. The glaze on the vase is very complex and the colors are in perfect balance together. I have seen this signature and work in the japanese pottery art world but I cannot for the life of me think of the artists names. I have a few Christie's auction catalogs on studio art pottery and I know I have seen this work in t I will update the auction if I come across the artist. I have taken a close up of the glaze on this important piece, and accurate pictures of the signature. I will try to describe the glaze. The glaze consists of a speckled ash with tenmoku, mauve and alkaline and copperdust brown, also blended in with these colors is a sea foam green. The clay color is a rust brown, and is a very textured and granulated type of clay, from research I I found that this is a harder clay to work with in the art pottery world. The piece measures 3 inches in height and 4 inches in width, the largest part of the neck measures 1 inch wide, with the opening measureing 1/4 inch across. The glaze is thick and the piece is of high quality and was well made by im sure a master potter and known artist. Im sure somone who buys important and high quality known japanese studio art pottery works of art will light up when they see this gem. Buyer pays shipping ( 9.00) Payment read more
