Signed 1979 Del Iron Cloud Original Painting on Canvas Indian on Horseback in Snowstorm I am pleased to offer for sale the work ofLakota Indian Del Iron Cloud. This original painting is on canvas is signed and dated 1979. I am not sure if the medium is acrylic or oil. The painting was found without paper documentation. The scene is one lone Indian on horseback returning to camp in snowstorm. This painting is not framed. Color theme is sky blues in shades of turquoise. This painting measures 20” long by 16” high. It is in good vintage condition with a few minor issues: One small indention, evidence around the outer edge of once being in a frame, slight line can be seen on the bottom edge and some light beige spots within ¼ inch from the edge. I assume this is from being framed at one time. Painting will be shipped flat and insured. Background information about Del Iron Cloud Tribe: Hunkpapa Lakota Del Iron Cloud, a Hunkpapa Lakota, was born in 1949 on the Standing Rock Reservation, located on the border of North Dakota and South Dakota. After graduating high school in 1968, he spent two years at the Institute of American Indian Arts in Santa Fe, New Mexico and went on to attend the American Academy of Art in Chicago, Illinois. He enlisted in the Air Force in 1971. After serving in England, California, South Dakota and Colorado, he retired for the Air Force in 1991 as Staff Sergeant. Since his retirement Del has focused on his first love--painting. His favorite mediums are acrylic and watercolor, but he has used many mediums throughout his career. He has also painted more than 100 large murals, including one at the international arrivals corridor at the Denver International Airport.
