This is a charming festoon brooch signed Adele Simpson dating from the 1940's, with genuine coral accents on the openwork brass beads. The main circular brooch measures 1.5" in diameter; a deep purple faceted glass stone center is ringed with pale blue enameled tiles, and two braided brass frames, smaller inside the larger. Attached to a ring on the back of this brooch are two book chains that form the swag to the second brooch. The diamond shaped smaller brooch measures 1.25", and holds an openwork brass pyramid; the pyramid is topped with coral and the bottom is edged in turquoise blue glass beads. From a ring on the smaller brooch hang four book chains in lengths that vary from 2" to 4": two end in translucent faux pearls(one larger than the other), and two end in ornate openwork brass egg-shaped beads wired with turquoise colored glass beads and red coral. The beads are about 1" long. The photos tell the story. The brooch is signed Adele Simpson in script on the back of the large brooch-hard to see and the last letters of the last name are almost worn away. The piece is in very good vintage condition with wear consistent with age. Specific areas to be noted are a tiny dark spot on the bezel holding the purple glass stone, a few darker areas of brass on the bottom edge of the openwork brass pyramid on the smaller brooch, read more
