Signed art glass piece by Murano artist Pino Signoretto. This is a very nice, rather unusual art glass piece, produced and signed by the noted Murano artist Pino Signoretto. Pino Signoretto has been a leading figure in Murano for more than 20 years. Signoretto trained in the school of the great master Barbini, and became a Master himself in 1961. He opened his own furnace showroom in Murano in the late 1970s. I am not an expert on art glass - information provided by an individual more knowledgeable in this area than I suggests that this piece may have been produced in the mid-1970s. The globe shaped piece (paperweight?) is clear uncolored glass, has a base diameter of 2-6/8 inches, a maximum circumference of approx. 11-1/2 inches, and a height of approx. 3-1/8 inches. The object weighs approximately 1 lb. 14 oz. (shipping weight will be about 3lbs.). I've included a number of photos of the piece. Key points include a silver label with what appears to be a rendering of the Pieta, labeled "Signoretto Pino. Made in Italy ", and the etched signature of the artist on the bottom the piece.
