A recently widowed friend has asked me to auction a few pieces of Baccarat Crystal he has found. His wife worked as a Southern California sales representative for a company that was the exclusive distributor of Baccarat . The pieces I will be putting up for auction were either samples or come from her collection of Baccarat.

Up for auction is a pair of very heavy Baccarat Crystal candlesticks. These candle holders seem to match pictures in the Baccarat sales rep book of a pattern named "Diomede" . We could not locate the box for this set. The set was part of her collection.

The candle stick holders are about 7 inches high and about 2 1/2 inches across the bottom at the widest point. They are very heavy. My bathroom scale puts each at between 2 and 3 pounds. This may be inaccurate, as the scale is an old fashioned one, not digital.

Both holders have the etched "Baccarat" logo mark on the bottom. They both have the "Baccarat" sticker.

One of the candleholders has a small scratch on one side.

T is also a small bubble in the glass, looks like a makers flaw.

My friend's wife may have purchased the set as a "second" during one of her trips to the Baccarat factory in France. He said, although Baccarat never sold a flawed piece to the public, the Sales Reps were allowed to purchase "seconds" at a reduced price when visiting Baccarat in France.

T are photos included that show the scratch and the bubble. (Imperfection creates character )

Other than the above mentioned bubble and scratch, the candlesticks are in excellent condition.

I am pretty lousy photographer so the photos don't look too good.

Due to the weight of the set they will be shipped in a USPS Flat Rate Priority Mail box, which seems to leave plenty of room for bubblewrap. I am willing to use a larger box, but the shipping cost will be much higher. I will pay for USPS Shipping Insurance in the amount of the final bid.
