I will tell you what I have found out about this little bronze carpet replica signatures or markings....(and no, a magnet does NOT stick)...it has GESCHULTZ on its bottomside...that was often a cr mark used by Vienna Bronzes....this also is numbered, 5010 or 5070 I am not sure which it is take a look ! ALSO this is signed with the BERGMAN signature which was a B in a vase or amphora...story goes, franz xaver bergman inherated a bronze factory from his dad (who was quite famous) and in 1900 the son franz xaver bergman started his own foundry...producing bronzes that were then signed with the B in the vase or jar ...(his father had opened a foundry in the 1800s, but I am not sure if they were signed with the b, I think this was used AFTER the son began his foundry in 1900, correct me if I am wrong )this bronze replica of a persian carpet has multiple colors on its top part worn with time and covered in patiena ) ...the front of the rug , or carpet sculpture bronze was done in muted reds, greens, golds, oranges, and blues.(I do not know if this was called cold paint or polychrome or if t was a difference)...you see the realistic fringe around the sides of the piece and the bunching up of the bronze carpet so as to appear like you are looking at a real carpet someone has stumbled over and mussed up...truth be told, I purchased this years ago from an estate sale and not knowing exactly what to do with it, put it in my grandchildrens dollhouse....as I got to looking at bronzes the other night, I remembered the little carpet in the dollhouse was signed....I went and got it out, and behold, it is a BERGMAN complete with the B in the Jar ! ....5 1/4 by 4 1/4 inches is about the size it is, though not exact...so, in this venue, one little treasure that has been lovingly played with for years now, rediscovered by accident, a bronze treasure signed by a master ! final sale bidding terms below...
