SIGNED & DATED 1954 OCEAN CITY N.J. BOARDWALK PRINT
SIGNED & DATED 1954 OCEAN CITY N.J. BOARDWALK PRINT
Sold For:
Pictured is an incredible find. This original framed print of the Ocean City New Jersey Boardwalk is signed and dated Vas. F. Murray 54 (1954). It appears to be a print from a pencil etching or drawing of a section of the boardwalk in Ocean City, but I don't know a lot about these type pictures and will answer any questioins on email. It features the SIMMs Restaurant prominently in the forground. I can't find out much about this artist except that he also did oil paintings in the New England area during the late 40's and 50's. The frame is absolutely original to the print and is anodized aluminum and glass and just screams 1950's, with the contrasting dark pink border. The frame was made by the Alumin Art Co. in Norwood, Mass. The best part is the owner of this print said it was the top prize on a boardwalk skill game and he managed to win it in the 1950's while vacationing. He said he never saw another one offerred on the boardwalk after that. He said it has hung in his dining room until now. The aluminum frame needs a cleaning but is in excellent condition and the print has never been removed from the frame. This is absolutely all original and should be a 'must-have' for any serious collector of vintage Ocean City N.J. memorabilia (I doubt if you will ever see another one). The frame measures 17" X 13" and the print is 8" X 12" inside the border. This picture must be sold so t is no reserve. on this great print as described.
