Vintage Clear Round Glass Butterfly Platter Signed Dorothy Thorpe Information on this artist and her work was found in The Best Of Collectible Dinnerware by Jo Cunningham on page 104. Cunningham writes that "Thorpe is better known for her glass designing, she also designed a few dinnerware lines. Expect Dorothy Thorpe designs to become more important in the collecting world. Dorothy died at Carlsbad, California on August 4, 1989". This old platter is crystral clear with etched butterflies and is 14 1/4 inches round. You can see the Thorpe signature in my photo #2. This piece is in pristine vintage condition with no chips or fleabites. T are a few light scratches from stacking but no indicatiions that this plate or tray was every used.
