AMERICAN BRILLIANT CUT GLASS Signed Egginton Cut Glass Bowl with Tusks This is an outstanding ABP Cut Glass Bowl cut by O.F. Egginton Company on a ½" thick Corning blank. The measurements are 9" wide by 3 ¾" in height. The pattern is composed of 3 intersecting hobstar chains separated by 3 oval vesicas, consisting of finely cut cane surrounding alternating clear tusk radiants and crosshatched radiants. The cutting of clear tusks were the most difficult to execute and were performed only by the master cutters. The rim of this bowl has the typical "U" cuts found on Eggintion cut glass. The tusk and cane cuttings on this bowl are among the most precise that I have ever seen. It weighs in at an amazing 4 lbs. 12 ozs. The condition is excellent with no chips, no flakes, no cracks and no staining. The blank is water-white clear. This beautiful piece has so much going for it - a sparkling, superb blank, unusual motifs, clear tusk cuttings and signed by Egginton. It is an example of the very best that Egginton had to offer and will make an excellent addition to your ABP Cut Glass Collection. Oliver Egginton's cutting firm opened in Corning in October 1896.
