Signed Hawkes Etched Oil & Vinegar Cruet with Sterling Silver & Glass Stopper The cruet and stopper are both marked on the bottom with the name Hawkes and the trefoil logo. The sterling part of the stopper is marked Hawkes Sterling 2214 and the number 13 is etched on the side. T are 2 characters etched in the neck of the cruet but I cannot tell what they are. The bottom of the cruet has the polished pontil and is marked Patented Oct. 5 but the year is illegible due to some wear. The cruet is just over 7" tall with the stopper; the diameter of the bottom is 2.5 inches. The sides are straight will a slight flare at the bottom. The etched pattern is wildflowers with fleur-de-lis and garland. The words oil and vinegar are etched on the sides with the appropriate measuring lines. The bottle has no chips or cracks; t is a minimal amount of wear on the bottom and inside the neck. The glass portion of the stopper has a few minor scratches but no chips or cracks. The sterling silver top has 3 small dents around the edge and a few tiny dings. All in all I would say the condition is very good considering the age of the piece. I have owned it for about 40 years. This item is being sold as is and cannot be returned so if you have questions, please ask before you bid. Thank you for looking at my auction. Please note that postage rates have increased significantly and this item may incur additional postage because it is lightweight in relation to the size of the box needed to safely package it.
