This auction is for a RARE original hand signed letter by PRESIDENT FRANKLIN D. ROOSEVELT. This letter is on printed White House stationery that reads in the upper left corner THE WHITE HOUSE WASHINGTON. This type written letter to the right top HYDE PARK N.Y., OCTOBER 28 1938. The letter reads DEAR MRS. CHAPIN IVE ONLY JUST HEARD THE SAD NEWS ABOUT PAUL AND AM GREATLY SHOCKED AND DISTRESSED. AS YOU KNOW, HE WAS ONE OF MY OLDEST FRIENDS AND I WILL MISS HIM MUCH. MY VERY SINCERE SYMPATHY GOES TO YOU AND THE BOYS. FAITHFULLY YOURS FRANKLIN ROOSEVELT. President Roosevelts signature is my his own hand in fountain pen. The ink has faded some, but is a nice strong signature. The piece measures 8 1/2" by 6 3/4". The paper is matted and framed behind glass. T is a light crease, but no tears or stains.
