THIS IS A VERY NICE SIGNED MIRIAM HASKELL HAND MADED TURQUOISE PIN/BROOCH.THE SIZE IS 1 3/4 INCHES IN DIAMETER, BASE HAND MADED FROM BRASS AND HAVE 13 TURQUOISE BALL SHAPED STONS SIZED 1/4 INCN. IN MY OPINION THE BROOCH MADE IN LATE 1940'S, IT HAVE SOME TRACES OF WEAR.Miriam Haskell is known for her creative, affordable, and innovative costume jewelry. Today, her vintage pieces are still highly sought after for both private collectors and museums. She opened her first jewelry boutique in 1926 and continued to stay ahead of the curve in both design and cost. During the Great Depression she designed art glass jewelry, rhinestone jewelry, and gold-plate parures – all which were very popular and very affordable for her customer. Her jewelry continued to gain popularity when it was worn for publicity shots, films, and personal use of movie stars Joan Crawford and Lucille Ball. When World War Two began, she designed a patriotic metal-free jewelry designs, using only natural materials and plastics.All of Miriam Haskell’s jewelry was made with the highest level of quality and craftsmanship. Each piece of her jewelry has a metal filigree base made of brass. All of her crystals and beads are individually set by hand, hand strung onto wire. There was generally no glue used in her pieces.
