OHIO STATE BUCKEYES HEISMAN PRINT This is for 4 Heisman Prints Signed by Horvath, Janowicz & Hopalong In 1994, Artists for Athletes did a limited edition art print for a charity fund raising event. This print was a tribute to the Buckeye's first four Heisman Trophy award winners, Les Horvath, Vic Janowicz, Howard "Hopalong" Cassady, and Archie Griffin. Les Horvath after leading the Buckeyes to their first National Championship in 1942 went to dental school the next year and did not play football. Because of wartime rules Les was given another year of eligibility and came back in 1944 to become the university's first Heisman Trophy winner. He died in November of 1995. Vic Janowicz won the Heisman Trophy in 1950 as a junior on a team that only went 6-3. Most football historians consider him the best athlete to ever play football for Ohio State. In a single game that season, Janowicz rushed for two touchdowns, passed for four more and kicked ten extra points. Vic died in February of 1996. Howard "Hopalong" Cassady as a junior led his team and Woody Hayes to his first National Championship. In his senior year, he played both on offense and defense to be voted the Buckeye's third Heisman Trophy winner and was also voted the 1955 AP Athlete of the Year. Archie Griffin is the only player to win the Heisman Trophy twice. He started read more
