Oscar Bruno Bach was a German-American metal craftsman who lived from 1894 to 1957. Most of his work was of the Art Deco style. ( I learned this from the Friends Of Oscar Bach website, which has lots of great info). This piece is a heavy glass box with a metal lid, that appears to be bronze. A fish finial is on the top of the box. The glass is has a crack in one corner, but no pieces are missing or chipped out. The top is dirty and needs cleaned/polished (you can see in the pics a round spot w the previous owner had a sticker; I think this is the color that it should all be). I have not attempted to clean or polish this in any way. I would rather leave that to the new owner. The glass is divided into three compartments by semi-circular dividers. I am not sure if this box was meant to hold smoking paraphenalia, cards, a bottle, or what. The lids has decorative edges. It is etched "Bachman Products" and has a drawing of a man that looks like Atlas and appears to be holding the words on his shoulders. Under this is the signature "Oscar B Bach". The etching is too faint for me to capture it with my sub-par camera (sorry!) Based on the info I got on the previously mentioned site (and some helpful fellow Ebayers) I think that this piece dates from the late 30's or early 40's, pre WW2. If any other fellow Ebayers want to share some more info, please do! PLEASE: do not confuse my low prices with low quality! What the low prices actually mean is that I have been spending too much time shopping and not enough time listing! I have tons of stuff to get listed, so please check out my other auctions!!
