Up for a 7-Day, NO RESERVE auction is this guaranteed original and authentic, hand-thrown decorative ashtray made by The Pewabic Pottery Company of Detroit, Michigan, circa 1930's. It shows the classic irridescence that early Pewabic pieces are quite famous for. Nicely executed, with a nice swirl pattern (similar to some Grueby bowls) on the inside base. This would make a nice case piece addition to any pottery collection. This fully signed Pewabic Pottery ashtray measures 1.25" tall by 5" in diameter at its widest point. The top, closed-rim opening is 3 & 7/8" in diameter while the slightly raised base is 3.5" in diameter. It is in excellent condition, but does have a small area (1" in length) w the glaze flaked off. I think it can be clearly seen at 3 o'clock in the first photo. It is only the glaze, so that is why I think it would be an easy touch-up. No other problems with this piece whatsoever. As noted in the title, it is clearly marked with the Pewabic Detroit impressed mark. Given the glaze and the clear crazing, the mark would put this piece sometime around 1930. It is just a fabulous piece of art pottery from a truly hard-to-find maker. I accept money orders, personal checks and PayPal, but will wait for PayPal and/or checks to fully clear my bank (usually 3-4 business days) before packing and shipping out any merchandise. The winning bidder will be responsible for shipping and full insurance through The USPS's Priority Mail Service with Delivery Confirmation added.
