Original signed 1860s carte de visite of CSA General John Breckinridge. Breckinridge saw active service in both theaters of war, notably at Murfreesboro and Chickamauga. In February 1865 President Davis prevailed upon Breckinridge to take on the thankless job of Confederate Secretary of War. He fled to England following the surrender and did not return to his native Kentucky until 1869,dying there in 1875 after an operation. (Description found online)4" x 2.5".
