1860 Signed Rufus Dunham Pewter Coffeepot This coffeepot is special because it was made in America and tin was relatively scarce. Rufus Dunham, born 1815, died 1882, was a Maine pewterer in Portland and Westbrook. The handle is painted metal. The signature block mark on the base is his standard imprint. The coffeepot measures 7-3/8" tall and 8-1/4" handle to spout. The condition is excellent. The coffeepot is free of dents or breaks of any kind in the metal. On the main pot body (top photo) is a 1/4" light mark at about 5:00 o'clock that is tiny scratches (near the handle base). Other small marks are between the lower rings near the handle base. The underside has scuffing at the edges and lots of the usual contact marks. The metal has the warm, soft quality of American pewter at its best. Contact : I will contact the winning bidder at close.
