You are bidding on a signed 1904 Rookwood Vase decorated with poppies and finished in the Rookwood Standard Glaze. It is signed C.S. and I am fairly certain that the artist was Caroline Steinle. T was also an artist at Rookwood by the name of Carl Schmidt, I am not sure of which artist decorated this vase. The date is represented by the Rookwood logo surrounded by 15 flames and the addition of Roman Numeral III incised underneath the logo. The vase is 7 5/8 " tall and 3" wide at the top. Model # 808. is clearly marked on the bottom along with the initials of the artist. The condition of the vase is very good. T are no cracks or repairs and the crazing is minimal. I found this vase in a box at a yard sale, covered with dust and spider webs. T are a few surface scratches or scuffs. Although the scratches are unfortunate they do not detract from the overall beauty and integrity of the piece. T is also some dirt in the bottom of the inside - happily this vase once held flowers. The poppies are delicately rendered from bud to full blown bloom from left to right on the 'face' , and on the back is a single stem emanating from the front with a side view of a 1/2 opened blossom. I am not a pottery expert and have described this case to the best of my ability. If you are unhappy with the vase because you feel that it was misrepresented, I will gladly refund your money as long as the piece is returned within 7 days and in the same condition as it was sent. Shipping and handling will not be refunded. Shipping cost is for the Continental United States and will include insurance for the final price - including the shipping costs. I can supply more pictures if requested, but due to the high gloss of the glaze and my poor photography skills they may not be an improvement over those I have posted.
