signed Steuben BEAVER PUP with Garnet Gemstone Eyes SOS... OUCH...IT HURTS!!! A not so perfect but endearing Steuben Beaver pup that has some bumps and bruises--a reminder that it can be tough out t in the wilderness. You might want to add this to your collection as is or seek veterinary attention for this piece. It can be improved--perhaps never quite perfect but still perfectly lovable. The Steuben Beaver Pup is a design by the late Lloyd Atkins, famous for the most wonderful Steuben animal designs and is a larger piece (not a hand cooler.) It measures approx. 4" high by 4.5" long, weighs over 1lb. with glistening red garnet gemstone eyes. Bejeweled Steuben Glass items are among their most expensive pieces. This Beaver Pup has the heft and clarity that is a Steuben hallmark. Let this be your desk buddy to sit on and control that pile of unopened mail. The hurts include--a small scrape on the nose, one chewed up ear, a circular bruise about the diameter of a pencil top eraser on the side of the body and a few other small marks on that same side--see photo for these details. Kind of a "split" personality, displays perfectly from one side. No damage to the gemstone eyes, cute paws or tail, very few display mark on the bottom. Steuben is noted for their rigorous attention to detail and for the high quality of their glass. They state in their literature that they do not market "seconds". In fact, they note that such pieces are destroyed in house. Steuben Glass was founded by Frederick Carder in 1903 and is located in the Fingerlakes Region of New York State. By following strict standards for design and manufacture they have achieved recognition as the worlds premier glassworks. Steuben Glass is frequently the gift of state by US Presidents to foreign dignitaries. Steuben is a luxury brand and they have no "sales". A very fair starting bid for a handmade Steuben Beaver, retails for $780 at . I ship promptly and pack with care double boxing fragile items. I appreciate your interest in this piece and I hope you will take time to look at the other items I have listed on Ebay this week. This is Steuben #8360 (reintroduced as #9155) first produced in 1977.
