The specimen you are bidding on, Sikhote-Alin meteorite, weighs 210 grams and is 31 X 41 X 51 mm in size. It will come as pictured on a wood base, placard and with a specimen / certificate of authenticity from the Kansas Meteorite Society. The Sikhote-Alin meteorite fell on February 12, 1947 at 10:38 a.m. local time. SIKHOTE-ALIN meteorites from the Maritime Territory Russian Federated. Witnesses reported a fireball that was brighter than the sun with a trail of smoke and dust that was 20 miles long. Entry speed was estimated at 31,000 miles per hour. At an altitude of about 3.5 miles, the largest mass apparently broke up in a violent explosion. Sikhote-Alin's Class is; Iron Coarse, Octahedrite IIB.
