If you collect silent movie artifacts, it's possible you don't own any of the increasingly hard-to-find, vintage silent-film star Beautebox tin boxes. It's possible, I say, but not advisable. Owning one of these beautiful souvenirs from long-ago confers a certain sense of style to your collection, as well as indicating that you yourself are someone to be reckoned with, someone who stands out in a crowd, takes life by the horns and drags it to the ground, ties it up and stands up, arms raised, spectators on their feet. (I suppose it wouldn't hurt to stop drinking when I write these descriptions.) This is, by the way, the last of my Beauteboxes, and I have saved the best for last. Let's take a look:'s Rudolph Valentino (1895-1926), the one and only. This tin, one of the larger ones in the series, measures 10" at it's widest and is 2 1/2" thick, with the lid on. And, the reason I'm by revising this description from when I first put this tin up, I can now make out the ghostly name of artist Henry Clive to the left of Valentino's face, thanks to the flash used in taking the pic below (Clive is the same artist who created the other two tins I've auctioned).
