Very Old Hawaiian Aloha Shirt: style of the 1930's, 1940's
Rayon (silky): t is no label. Pale beige ground with graphics and illustrations in aqua , burgundy and gold. The size is a Man's Medium, giving onto large: Chest = 46" and length = 31". T are 5 buttons. The overall condition is fair +. All of the stitching is original and t are no repairs made, but are needed. The button thread is different from the rest of the shirt. The hem has come undone at the rear and t are several small holes (see picture), mainly near the hem that can be easily repaired, as well as many pin-holes, which can only be seen if held up to the light: all seem due to the age of the shirt. T are three spots w the color has bled a little. See the left pocket, the rear hem and the base of the Kamehameha statue on the back top. The collar points are a little long and t are two breast pockets with rounded bottoms. They are not aligned. The graphics include a map of "Oahu", with a large coconut palm tree in the center and "Honolulu", "Diamond Head", "Pali" and "Kaena pt." marked. T are lines and distances shown to "San Francisco - 2092 mi", "Midway - 1320 mi", and "Australia - 4514 mi." T is a Hula dancer, the statue of King Kamehameha 1, Hibiscus, a Kihikihi fish, a Compass, and a surfer. Also printed on the shirt in sans serif are: "Poi (the food), Pau (done, or finished) Tapa (bark cloth) Aloha, Waikiki, Wahini (woman) and Hele-mai-e "(come I have tried to describe this shirt as well as possible.
