The Sale Continues! I am today listing additional items from my vintage Mexican and Taxco silver collection. This item is a rare and beautiful necklace by the famed designer Fred Davis. It is a simple and elegant piece with amethyst and silver and is a design that was copied by many in later years. This looks to be an early piece with no eagle assay mark but the unmistakeable mark of Fred Davis which is an F with a D wrapped around it (see picture of FD mark) below the words Silver and Mexico. Fred Davis oversaw the silver department at Sanbornes and is known as one of the great masters of the Mexican silver renaissance along with William Spratling and others in Taxco. This necklace does not have an eagle assay mark and I think that is because this is an early piece. It looks very similar to pieces from 1930 by Fred Davis that are pictured in the book by Penny Morrill and Carole Berk. This book also gives a price range for Fred Davis Necklaces between $950 and $3,500. It has a patina on the surface which I have never cleaned. It also has a nice weight to it. The width is 7/8" and the inside circumference (it is wider on the outside than the inside) is slightly over 13". Now pay attention to that last statement kids because this is important: the inside circumference is just over 13". Now I am a very big gal and I cannot wear this necklace. It actually looks VERY petite. So please keep that in mind when bidding. I will not accept returns because this does not fit you. Because I see this as a drawback of this piece I am listing this with no reserve at a price that protects my investment. This is a substantial piece for the serious vintage Taxco silver collector. Please check out the other items concluding Sunday 10/26 by Victoria (Ana Nunez Brilanti), Miguel Melendez and others and also please check back in coming days and weeks for pieces by Reveriano Castillo, Los Castillo, Sigi Pineda, Antonio Pineda and others that I will be listing. Happy bidding!
