EUROPEAN SILVER & ENAMEL SOUVENIR SPOON BRUSSELS , BELGIUM HOTEL DE VILLE ~ TOWN HALL Offered is a European silver and enamel souvenir spoon from Brussels , Belgium (Bruxelles in French). This stunning spoon is completely enameled , both front and back, in a wonderful Art Deco / Art Nouveau design. The enamel bowl features a detailed view of the front façade of Brussell's famous landmark, the Town Hall (Hotel de Ville in French). Located in the Grand Place , Brussell's town square, the Hotel de Ville was constructed between 1402 and 1455, and shows off Gothic design at its best. The façade is complete with dozens of arched windows and sculptures. Some of these, like the drunken monks, a sleeping Moor and his harem, and Saint Michael slaying a female devil, display a sense of humor as well as skill. Rising from the center is a magnificent 315-foot tower topped by a statue of St. Michael, the patron saint of Brussels . The building is still the seat of the civic government and is open for tours. The stem front is enameled in ice white and blue in a Deco design and is topped with an enameled Brussels city coat-of-arms. The back of the spoon, bowl and stem, is also completely enameled in ice white and blue, with "Bruxelles" written is script on the finial. All the enamelwork is in mint condition. Just gorgeous!!
