comes a precious OIL on wood ICON with a partly reticulated SILVER MOUNTING. This authentic religious artwork shows the portrayal of a saint in a bishop's attire. It is of RUSSIAN origin and dates back to the 19th century. SPECIFICATIONS:

DATE: 19th century.
MARKS: Russian silver hallmarks to the rim of the silver mounting.
MATERIAL: Oil on wood. Silver mounting.
MANUFACTURING TECHNIQUE: Fine hand painting & chase work.
CONDITION: ORIGINAL as found condition with extensive traces of age, chipping, abrasions, dents and scratches. NO RESTORATION! This wonderful Russian icon shows the depiction of a saint in bishop's attire. The holy man is holding a sceptre and a halo is framing his head. In the upper left corner we see a miniature reserve featuring the portrayals of the Virgin Mary with Jesus. The silver mounting is executed in the most delicate chase work and partial reticulation, perfectly completing the beautiful painting.
