Up for auction is a pair of vintage enameled earrings. These are older and are hallmarked on the reverse simply: SILVER (see 2nd & 3 pic...some of the letters are backwards). Pretty two tone bugs decorate the fronts of these earwires...they are standing on oval shaped frames. The reverse of the bugs show segmented bellies...these each have six (6) legs, tiny solid bead eyes and thin gauge wire antenna or feelers and look to have a flash of gold. The enamel appears to be perfect and these are so pretty on. They are dimensional and the backside of the beetles are mirror image in an Art Deco like way. Their outer shells are with jet black and translucent orangish-yellow. They measure about 1/2" wide x 1 5/8" long (including the earwire...see the unusual shape that slips through the ear? and the wires are not 'perfectly' straight yet they may be easily bent to straighten if you so desire...they wear fine just as they are) x 1/4" thick. Between the dangle portion and the wire t is a wrapped area followed by three (3) small natural disc shaped and different colored stone beads. This pair was purchased second-hand from an antique dealer who sells quite a bit of vintage jewelry but he could not give me any specifics on them. With the 'SILVER' marking and shape of wires I would guess that they could be as late as the 40's, possibly a decade or two earlier and most likely German made. I can tell you for certain that they are not new. Please see photos for your take on age, color, shape, design and condition...if you desire a close up of the marking or any other area I will gladly send them via email. I find this pair in very nice vintage condition as is, uncleaned, without problems...with some superficial bending to the earwire. U.S. Buyers ship USPS with Insurance and Delivery Confirmation services for $4.55; International Buyers ship Global Priority Small Envelope with a Certificate of Mailing for $6.20 to most countries; and the remainder are deposited Air Letter Post. I will gladly combine shipments at no additional cost whenever possible and safe to do so should any of my other items be of interest. Happy to answer questions and send photos, just ask. Have fun!
