You are bidding on a beautiful c1900, if not before, silver print of Newburyport, Massachusetts. Hand written identification on back reads, "House lived in by Tristram Coffin Jr., by 1653 side door on the original front of house. As he had 10 children, he added on Easterly end and provided front door on street. The porch added later, otherwise just as Tristram (Deacon) lived in it. On High Street, Newbury". From a collection of 5 vintage silver prints of Newburyport, others also being auctioned. Photographer unknown. A beautiful, crystal clear image of the house and surrounding trees. Photograph is crisp and clear, showing great detail. Photograph appears a bit lighter than the others. This is the exposure, NOT fading. Cream colored, sturdy, cardboard-like matte/mount measures 8 1/2 by 5 1/4. Photograph measures 7 1/2 by 4 1/2. Edges and corners of the photograph and mount are perfect. Corners of mount are intentionally rounded. From a collection of photographs from the mid 19th to early 20th centuries. Stored safely for many years.
