ANTIQUE CHINESE EXPORT 4.6 OZ SILVER TANKARD Up for auction is this great antique Chinese Export Silver tankard.The tankard is 3 ¼ inches high and 2 ½ inches in diameter at the base.It is in excellent condition with no scratches or dings anywhere. There is no looseness of the handle where it is attached to the body. The base is soldered to the body and there are no breaks in this joinery. The weight of the tankard is 4.6 ounces. I believe the decorations are of chrysanthemums which are engraved around the body. On each side of the handle at the top are birds. From the left of the handle there is a grasshopper engraved sitting on a branch of said chrysanthemums. Directly across from the handle on the front of the tankard, a shield with initials and the date of 1901 within.The initials are in a flamboyant script and I really can’t figure out what they are.On the bottom of the base there are markings. One is YL within a small square.The other is a oriental cartouche (maybe that is the wrong word) that has oriental marks that would take me awhile to describe.This has been in my collection for many years and now it is time to pass it along. I am also going to list this in Japanese Export Silver.A great wonderful piece of export silver, dated from 1901, for your collection.We take special care in the wrapping and shipping of your item.
