Silver tea or Coffee w/2 Water Pitchers, Family Wedding Heirloom-4 generations It really does not get any better than this. The set is the only one like in the world, it was an Heirloom handed down for four generations to the eldest daughter as a wedding present. The tea set is almost an exact replica of Sterling Silver, Francis I Tea Set by Reed and Barton valued at $39,999. The family's money came from home windows, door and awnings, started in America , when they moved from Germany . Each piece is old world hand trades man, hand chased, richly detailed and meticulously hand-crafted. The design pattern is rich detailed bridal vines of life, accented with its yields of flowers and the families it develops symbolized by wreaths. It has a three wreath consistent pattern from tea set to hand blow, very light and fragile, etched glasses. It is fascinating watching the vines and how they interconnect to flowers or wreaths on the glasses, no two are alike, again proof of old world hand craftsmen and the stories to these pieces are endless. One new piece was added each time a wedding happened. It started with a wedding in Germany, and the first gift was the hand blow, hand etched glasses about 180 years old, a French artist signature on the glasses, was a vine, with two leafs at the bottom and a split vine at the top with 1 leaf, again symbol of family and its growth; it is only on one of the glasses in the set. Their looked like an initial on another, which has worn away with time. The tea set, was the second gift, about 150 years ago, is crafted entirely of Sterling Silver and each edge is pristinely hand crafted with the vines and flowers of life, an a large wreath, is on the spout base. The openings on all pieces are all indented cut designed, not smooth flat circular. The tea set is stamped on bottom of every piece, by Aurora Warranted established in 1869 and a clearly manual input of 1924. Our extensive research, could not determine if that was a pattern style, the year it was produced or the number of this pattern made. It is my guess only, that Reed and Barton bought Aurora Company right after the design of this pattern or Reed and Barton, bought the pattern or picked up the pattern design after the company closed. The third gift was the 2 Sterling Silver 3 hole Candelabras, about 100+ years old, again rich in the vine and flower detail. The Water Pitchers were the last gift and are an exact match to the set, only about 30-50 years old, and again the rich vine detail prevails, they are silver plated. The tea includes Coffee or tea Pot (8 cup, 40oz), which is 9" tall by 8-1/2" W and has a distinctive royal crown on lid top as handle, Sugar Bowl (5-1/2" Height, w/a 4-1/2" bowl, 7"Wide w/handles) also has a matching lid w/crown, Cream Pitcher (12 oz, gilt lined)4"H x 6"W/handles, and Waste or tea Bowl (4 1/2" Height, 6"Spread w/handles). The 2 Sterling Silver candelabras, have 3 holders each, 10"W X 6"H, (10" round tray, possibly another separate gift, stamped Monroe Assembly 103, Glasses set of 4, w/1 extra glass for 5 -6" height, 12oz 1-1/2c capacity, 2 Pitchers w/2 ice inserts, and 2 replacement lids, silver plated. 14-1/2" H w/48oz capacity) The set has no dents or scratch's, it is in pristine condition, with the exception of 2 wear spots. One on the waste bowl, which a good silver polisher, could remove, and some wear light scratches on the sterling silver tray. read more
