Striking ginbari style Japanese cloisonne Meiji era vase. The vase depicts a Gesiha girl among blue, orange, and purple iris flowers. The copper body is wrapped in sterling silver foil with silver wires applied to form the design. Translucent enamels are used on most areas and the sterling silver foil surface reflects available light back through the transparent colors. the Geisha's gown is eye popping in green and purple colors. Opaque colors are used for the white face and black hair. While not signed, the vase is likel y the woprk of Kumeno Teitaro, who made many similar pieces. Condition is excellent with two small discolorations on the rear side. Height is 6." Ask all questions before bidding. Payment expected within 10 days of close of auction.
